Brief Description

Is your Internet access need still limited? Do you travel much and need to be able to access your e-mail from different places? Do you have a very tight Internet budget? You will be more in control if you subscribe to CBN's dial-up Internet access service. All that you need is a PC or a notebook, a modem and a telephone line, and you will be able to send and retrieve e-mail or surf the Internet at rates up to 56 Kbps.

To ensure the fastest and most flexible dial-up service, CBN supports different standards including the ITU V.90. Our thousands of high-quality phone lines, distributed among a number of our points of presence (POPs), make it easy for subscribers anywhere in Jakarta and other cities to get connected to our servers. Probability of successful login is optimized as we keep the ratio of our phone lines to the number of our subscribers to a maximum of 1:10.

How Does It Work

Dial Up

Using your Web browser or e-mail program, you connect your modem-which is attached to your PC or notebook-to any of CBN's 17 dial-up access numbers in Jakarta, one in Bogor and one in Bandung. After the login (user authentication) process is completed, you will immediately find yourself inside the Cyberspace.

When you finish, your modem will hang up and the connection will be terminated.

Depending on the dial-up service plan that you choose, CBN will charge you for your Internet access time. CBN calculates your bill by the second, and you can check your total usage any time at CBN Web site. You will receive a bill every month in the printed or electronic form as you request, and you can pay with your credit card, ATM, Internet Banking, auto debit, and also cash directly to our office or our authorized bank.

However, as you will also be using TELKOM's public telephone service, the phone company will also charge you for the pulses that you use during the Internet connection. The phone charges will be included in your monthly phone bill.

Why Choose This Service

If you are a mobile worker, a student, or a casual Internet surfer with light to moderate Internet activities (sending and receiving e-mail, chatting, downloading small files, Internet telephony, etc.), this service is the most affordable. Hardware requirements, including the modem, are also minimum.

Benefits

  • Affordability: Dial-up service is the most affordable way to connect to the Internet from your home or boarding room.
  • Control: You are in control of usage.
  • Flexibility: You can access your e-mail from anywhere provided there is a phone line. In addition, as CBN's e-mail system is also Web-based, you can check and send e-mail from any computer with an Internet connection and a browser.
  • Personal e-mail address: You get one personal e-mail address (your-name@cbn.net.id)
